Subnautica occurs at the end of the thirty-first century, when humanity begins to colonize other star systems. A distant spacecraft built by the company Altera transgov, known as Aurora, was sent to a system on the edge of space known during its first voyage. His goals are to build a section of the high-speed travel infrastructure known as Phasegate and search for a missing ship, Degasi, that crashed on Planet 4546B ten years ago. After entering orbit, Aurora feels physically disturbed by a mysterious force and crashing on the planet. This keeps plants and animals on the planet alive, but not enough to eliminate the plague. The player is asked to help him spawn his eggs because his youngsters produce the treatment purer. Once the player hatches the eggs using the hatching enzyme received from Sea Emperor Leviathan, the player is treated for infection. Young people leave the base, looking after the rest of the planet. Then the player is free to deactivate the quarantine application system and build a missile to leave the planet, thus ending the game.
